To those that knew it, it looks like the crazy RPG hit-points-and-magic stuff has gone home. Sorry for those who were close to it. I don't think it left any notes or belongings for anyone, but I'm sure it'll be better off where it came from.

Seriously -- everyone all right out there? Sounds like a more than average number of people have been leaving fair Luceti lately. Though I guess variation is itself average, in said fair Luceti.

...Anyone know where the name "Luceti" comes from, anyway?

It might seem a little strange, but one day I just heard him.. calling out to me. Even though nobody else could hear it. I thought it was just me going crazy at first..

O-of course it wasn't! I went to try and find the source of the sound, and.. that's when me and my best friend Sayaka-chan found Kyuubey. He was wounded and he looked like some sort of animal, so I thought I should take care of him.. but when I tried to do that, we got sucked into-.. into this really weird place instead. Everything was so weird and surreal and that was.. a witch's barrier.

...You got sucked in? By him?

No, by the witch.. Witches are.. um, sort of like monsters, I guess, just really weird and dangerous..

And they suck innocent people into their 'barriers' to eat them or.. kill them..

['Well, presumably eating them includes killing them, huh?']

So not so much barriers as... spiderwebs. Witch-spiderwebs.

Ah, right..! So Sayaka-chan and I got caught up in that and it was really scary and dangerous.. but then we were saved by one of the magical girls. She was a little older than us and really cool, or at least, I thought so.. her name was Mami-san, Mami Tomoe. She tried to convince Sayaka-chan and me to become magical girls too by making a magical girl contract with Kyuubey, but..

When she took us into another witch's barrier to show what it's like to hunt a witch, she.. [ she swallows, fumbles, clearly having difficulty saying it - so it's not too difficult to imagine what follows. ] .. she.. died.

['Magical girl contracts. You have got to be kidding me, Kaname. But I guess I'll have to keep a straight face, considering how serious she's being.']

Y-.. yes. Because of the witch. [ She has to swallow again before continuing even - it's difficult to keep her voice steady by now, but she tries. ] I.. felt so bad though.. I felt like it was my fault. If only I'd have become a magical girl and fought by Mami-san's side, then that might not have happened to her..

Absolutely not, Kaname. First, the past is the past and can't be changed. Second, you didn't know and you couldn't have understood. Third, if she took you in, it was a risk she chose knowingly. You don't need to assign fault to anyone, but if you assign it to yourself, be sure to apportion it in proper amounts to everyone.

She made a contract after Mami-san died to become a magical girl and fight like Mami-san did, but.. in the end she couldn't handle it, and she fell completely into despair.. I couldn't even do anything for her anymore, even when I tried..! And then-.. then Sayaka-chan turned into a witch herself, the things she and all other magical girls had been fighting all along..
