10 ~ comparing those worlds to this boring, normal life [audio/picture]
['Well. It sure got cold pretty fast, huh? Which means that I'm rapidly approaching the one-year mark, so I should really be proud. Or something. After burrowing myself away to avoid complications from refugees, my antisociality has reached a certain limit.
Unfortunately, I also have nothing to contribute beyond the observation about the weather which I already blithely used up there! Not that people can read my thoughts, but if they could, they'd find out. Well, they'd find out a lot of things. But who would want to anyway? It would just go on and on without any point.
Anyway, I guess I'll poorly disguise my attempt to see who's up for a random conversation with some kind of opener. Hey, if I were at home, this would be a mind-scarring Omegle session or something. At least I'm pretty sure I won't run into the usual problems stranger-chatting over the journal.'
...and so:]
So I found this in a book the other day.

Maybe this doesn't work as well over the journal, but I thought it was cool, anyway. Or at least different from discussions about fire and eternal suffering, continued kidnapping, disappearance, reappearance, cross-dressing, and so on.

[Voice]
And there's plenty ominous about it! I mean, who equates cross-dressing with eternal suffering? Unless you're, like, eternally cross-dressing and not a fan. I mean, I knew this place was bad, but has something like that ever actually happened?
[Voice]
[And then pause to process that.
'Am I really glad she's back, after that?']
Well, the only way they're equal is that they've all been mentioned on the journal recently.
[Voice]
What kind of book were you reading?
[Voice]
['....']
It's an optical illusion, not just a picture of an old lady.
[Voice]
But this picture's got an illusion, huh? So there's something else I'm supposed to see... [Peeeeering down at it. Closely. Her hair is getting all up in the camera.] ...you mean the weird man-faced-lion-skull-thing the tree and everything makes?
[Voice]
But, uh, the face is supposed to be the illusion. The scene itself, with the tree and stuff, is the other picture, yeah.
[Voice]
[No, really.]
[Voice]
['.....huh.']
... You see a lot of things, huh, Hoshikyo?
[Voice]
[IT'S RIGHT THERE k-kind.]
[Voice]
Well, I guess I could if I really wanted to,
[Voice]
[And then she drew it in.]
...see! She's rescuing her teddy bear, too!
[Yes, that totally is a teddy bear. Do not doubt Kari's art skillz!!!]
[Voice] ... I laughed for like five minutes
....Y-You sure that's not a panda bear?
[Voice] MISSION ACCOMPLISHED
[Voice]
[Voice]
[Voice]
Okay, let's leave the ursology to one side... Those things, uh, aren't supposed to be in the picture, I'm preetty sure.
[Voice]
[Voice]
[Voice]
[...]
I can't draw, though.
[Voice]
[Voice]
I mean. Unless you're expecting some fantastic stick figures? I can do those. [...] Probably.
[Voice]
[Voice]
Gimme a minute, then!
[She's actually going to draw fantastic stick figures now.]
[Kyon, what have you done.]
[Voice]
['This should be good.'}
[Voice]
There! See, it's either two princesses going to a castle, or some creepy cat face thing! You know. If you squint a little.
[...]
[She's serious, by the way.]
