10 ~ comparing those worlds to this boring, normal life [audio/picture]

['Well. It sure got cold pretty fast, huh? Which means that I'm rapidly approaching the one-year mark, so I should really be proud. Or something. After burrowing myself away to avoid complications from refugees, my antisociality has reached a certain limit.

Unfortunately, I also have nothing to contribute beyond the observation about the weather which I already blithely used up there! Not that people can read my thoughts, but if they could, they'd find out. Well, they'd find out a lot of things. But who would want to anyway? It would just go on and on without any point.

Anyway, I guess I'll poorly disguise my attempt to see who's up for a random conversation with some kind of opener. Hey, if I were at home, this would be a mind-scarring Omegle session or something. At least I'm pretty sure I won't run into the usual problems stranger-chatting over the journal.'

So I found this in a book the other day.



Maybe this doesn't work as well over the journal, but I thought it was cool, anyway. Or at least different from discussions about fire and eternal suffering, continued kidnapping, disappearance, reappearance, cross-dressing, and so on.

[Give her a minute while she takes a closer look. Literally. She pulls the journal a little closer to her face, squinting a little to try and see what he's talking about. Maybe if she flips it upside down, like so...]

[She's not sure she likes that tone (though, she may in fact be a tone she's imagining), but she'll begrudgingly do it anyway. She props the journal up against a pillow and takes a few steps away before taking another look at it.]

... Well, I mean, it's got to be kinda difficult to make it look like a picture and a face, right?

[She picks her journal back up and flops back on to her bed as she thinks about that.]

I guess...Kinda makes me wonder how they do it, though. Like, do they draw a face and then just decide "Gee, it would be totally cool if this was hidden in a bunch of stuff," or what?

Well, I imagine they come up with the idea of hiding it in a bunch of stuff first, and then decide what the stuff in question is.

That sounds really hard, though! They have to draw the face then draw stuff that looks like stuff on a face...I mean, who even thinks up something like that? Maybe it's because I don't know a lot about art...

...At least it doesn't make my eyes hurt like those weird magic eye things, though. You know those ones where if you like, stare at it long enough you see a pony or a dolphin or whatever?

Uh, not really. But I guess that's another way that it could work. I think they just like to make... things. That's what art is, right?

But if art is just people liking to make stuff, wouldn't that make pretty much anything art?

Well, it depends. People make stuff just to sell it, too, right? Though I hear all sorts of things really can be considered art, so you're not that far off.

But that means anybody could just glue a bunch of whatever together and call it art...And if some people make stuff just to sell it, I wonder if there are people who would buy something like that?

...That would be such a total rip off!

...Actually, now that I think about it, I wonder how much stuff like that happens in my world. I mean, there are always movies and TV shows about things like art heists and big time scams.

Yeah...Like people who buy those really dangerous pets. ...I wonder if having a lot of money makes people weird somehow? Like how rich celebrities give their kids really weird names for no reason! Like, you never hear about people who aren't rich doing weird stuff like that, you know?!

Well, why would anyone care about a weird name for a baby if the parents weren't rich or famous?

Well... I've never heard it before. I don't know all that much about Western names, so... maybe it isn't.
