If so, be sure to attend the SOS Brigade's "Pirates vs. Ninjas" Dodgeball Extravaganza. Or maybe it's not an Extravaganza. Well, I'm sure even if it's not officially, it still has Extravaganza-Like Components and is extravagant.

That's Thursday, November 15th. Save the date, or alternatively wander by the Barracks, if you elect to be a pirate, where their home base is located, or by the first floor of Community Building 1, which is ninja headquarters, and I'm sure someone will splatter you.

And, yeah. Like I said, it's doubling... somehow... as a celebration of Shichi-Go-San. Those interested in celebrating being three, five, or seven years old should also attend. Questions can be directed here... and I'm sure Haruhi will see them.

... "It didn't stick"? Right, I mean, you've mentioned it before, but... Is that a thing in your world, it just doesn't stick?

[He backs off, then approaches again, trying to stand with his side more to the figure. It makes for a somewhat more awkward swing, but, well, it's still hard to miss a standing-still dummy with a baseball bat.]

Faith wasn't the poster girl for responsible herodom. There were issues. Of the turncoat variety. Disagreements. Fights. Attempted murders.

[All right, all right. Backing off, coming forward, standing sideways, and aiming to get the bat to a point about two feet behind the torso of the dummy. This ambitious attempt and the recoil rather catches him off guard.]

Lesse if I can clarify. I died -- briefly. For the first time. And during that brief death, a second Slayer was called up. The lineage only needs one girl to be active at a time and so when she died, another was called. Leaving us two.

Right. And you both still had all your super strength badass stuff?

Mmhm. Of course, I had a head start of a few years...

Right. So you did work together already, then. So... what exactly were those things that happened?

[Meanwhile he takes a step or two back from the dummy again, leaning the bat down.]

...Faith switched sides. The played for the bad guy. She -- she made a wrong choice.

[He proffers it and then stands back a step or two.]

Why? I'm not qualified enough to tell you why. You'd need a dozen psychological degrees to puzzle Faith out. But as for the how...[ she tosses the bat from one hand to the other. ] Mostly? Attempting to kill me. That usually seemed to be the crux of her plan.

I guess that one really would do it. Solve most of the situation, I mean.

...Anyway, so you don't know why she did it, but in any case, you're definitely decided against working with her here.

That's just it. From my point in my own timeline? She's...half-decent. Work-with-able. From her point in her own timeline?

Not so much.

...And I'm not sure if I have the patience to wait up for her.

Besides, I can't imagine anyone developing a vendetta against me here. There's really nothing important about me.

... What? Well, I mean... yeah. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining or anything.

Why? [He looks down for a second with a frown.]

... I mean, I can't really do anything. [he motions to the baseball bat in her hand.] Like fight, or magic, or any of that. At home, there was something I could do because of Haruhi, but... [pause] All of that is different. The best thing I can do is go about my day and stay away from things so no one has to rescue me, right?

I wanted to be some kind of fantasy hero once, you know, but I'm not. And I don't know that I'd take it now if you offered it. I mean, it must be interesting to be you, but it can't be easy, either.

...You don't have to be super-powered to be interesting. In fact, I think it makes a person downright common here. Become a barber; that'll really make you stand out.

Well... maybe. But either way, I wouldn't really be able to help you guys with the dangerous stuff. The super-powered people are the ones we have to put in charge of saving our lives, after all, and it makes other things pretty trivial.

[... 'Okay, I guess maybe I should try to lighten this? I'm not sure why she thinks it's important whether I think I'm important here, anyway, but...']
